COMPETITION RULES

📅 Competition Period

Fishing opens 1 June 2026 and closes 31 August 2026, fished exclusively in NSW waters. Registrations close 15 July 2026. Catches submitted outside these dates are not eligible. Registrations close 15 July 2026.

🏆 How to Win

The angler who submits the heaviest single verified tuna, caught in NSW waters across the full competition period wins 1st place. The fish must be caught, verified, and submitted by the angler during the competition period.

🎣 Who Can Enter

Open to NSW residents. Entry fee is $150 per angler. Each angler registers individually - no shared entries.

🐟 Eligible Species

All tuna species recognised under NSW DPI regulations are eligible - including Yellowfin, Southern Bluefin, Longtail, Albacore, and Bigeye Tuna. Fish must meet the minimum legal size and bag limits apply.

📏 Legal Size - No Exceptions

All fish must comply with current NSW DPI bag and size limits at the time of capture. Any entry that does not meet the legal minimum size will be disqualified. It is the angler's responsibility to know and comply with current NSW fisheries regulations.

📸 Verifying Your Catch - Photos

Submit 3 photos showing: (1) full side-on view of the fish, (2) the scale reading with the fish weight, (3) the angler holding the fish and their Registration Number card. The angler must be physically holding their Registration Number card and it must be clearly visible and legible in all 3 photos.

🎥 Verifying Your Catch - Video

Submit 1 continuous, unedited video. The video must show: you stating your name and Registration Number; the scale at zero; the fish being weighed; and a 360° view of the fish. No cuts, edits, or filters.

⏱ Submit Within 24 Hours

All catch submissions must be received within 24 hours of the time of capture. Late submissions will not be accepted. If two catches are the same weight, the earlier submission wins.

🚢 Your Vessel

You are responsible for the safety and seaworthiness of your vessel. All boats must carry mandatory NSW Maritime safety equipment for the relevant vessel class. Filing a float plan before offshore trips is strongly recommended.

🪪 Fishing Licence Required

All participants must hold a valid NSW Recreational Fishing Licence for the full competition period. Your licence number is collected at registration. Fishing without a valid licence is an offence under NSW law.

🎉 Presentation Night

All prize winners are announced at the Presentation Night - 4 September 2026 at The Milton Hotel, Milton NSW. Prize recipients must be present to claim prizes unless otherwise arranged in advance.

🏅 Prizes

1st: $4,000 cash. 2nd & 3rd: prize packs. Monthly $500 best catch prizes: June, July, August. Prize draw: all anglers who submit at least one valid catch entry are entered. Every entrant receives a King of the Fin branded tee shirt, stubby cooler, and sticker pack included in their registration. Prizes also include products and items contributed by competition sponsors.

❌ Disqualification

You will be disqualified for: submitting fish below the legal minimum size; edited or manipulated photos or video; submitting a catch caught by another angler; fishing in a prohibited area; providing false information; submitting fish caught outside NSW waters or any conduct that is dishonest or brings the competition into disrepute.

Offshore fishing carries inherent and serious risks. All participants enter and fish entirely at their own risk. ⚖ Final Decisions

All decisions regarding catch verification, eligibility, and prize allocation are made by the Competition Director and are final. By entering, you agree to be bound by these rules and the full Conditions of Entry.
